Saturday June 24 - weeding and strawing

A beautiful day in the garden, the breeze sure helped keep things cool, as did getting an earlier start.  Lots of weeding and strawing!

And from Lloyd's latest gardengram:

Reminders: Minimize use of the "pearly gates" (truck entrance to the garden).  If you do use it, YOU MUST RETIE ALL 5 STRINGS WHEN CLOSING (the gate could self destruct in a storm!).  Please check to see that the GH sliding screen door is closed (otherwise we fry pollinators!).  There are two feed lines to turn on when watering the tomato field.

Harvest:  There are lots of rutabaga  and cabbage (1 each per family), plenty of Swiss chard, collards, kale and lettuce and a few turnips.  Take a few larger leeks and there are plenty of all three potato varieties to dig.  Check out the herb garden for basil, sage, parsley, cilantro and dill.  Take 15-20 garlic per family and store in a cool dry place for a week or so before use.
