Saturday April 23/Sunday April 24 - more strawing and seeding

Whew, it was a straw-filled weekend!  On Saturday about 11 people strawed the potato field - about 20 bales!  It was a good chance to practice a couple of the 10 commandments of South County Community Gardening:  "Thou Shall Cut Straw Bale Strings Next To The Knot So They Can Be Re-Used," and "Thou Shall Not Put Strings on the Grass Where They Will Ruin the Mower."

On Sunday another party of 11 volunteers weeded, over-seeded and strawed (another 10 bales) much of the spring veggie garden, added seed to the arugula, collard, kale, mustard, turnip and radish rows, and transplanted some seven flats from the GH including cilantro, parsley, dill and zinnias.  Some volunteer sunflowers were moved to the herb/flower garden, filled in the potato patch with another 5 pounds of seed potatoes, and added seed to the tomato, pepper, and eggplant flats in the greenhouse.
